Innovation Works Client Songwhale Reaches 100 Employees
Songwhale, based in Lawrenceville, PA, is an interactive media company that has grown exponentially since its inception in 2007. What started as a three-person startup is now a global technology company that recently reached the 100-employee milestone.
Songwhale’s core competency is in mobile content and advertising, and provides content across web, WAP and SMS technology. Songwhale enables brands and companies to reach consumers across multiple points.
Songwhale founder Ty Morse and partner John Greenlee started the company largely to help fund their interest in music. As the company grew, so did Songwhale’s client base, which now includes AT&T, Pizza Hut, Gatorade and EA Sports, among many others. Songwhale can aid in selling a house, providing updates on a Steelers game and marketing everything from deodorant to donuts, all on a mobile device.
Ben Franklin Technology Partners Innovation Works (BFTP/IW) has worked closely with Songwhale and invested $100,000 in the company in 2010.
Songwhale’s business model is to provide free content to mobile phone users, with the companies paying to provide it—a cost-effective method that allows them to directly reach their customers in a new way.
