In Memoriam: Frank Baldino, Jr., Ph.D.

The Ben Franklin Technology Partners are truly saddened by the loss of Frank Baldino, Jr., Ph.D.–founder, chairman and CEO of Cephalon, Inc.

Frank Baldino, Jr., Ph.d. (1953 to 2010)

Dr. Baldino was a pioneer of the biotechnology industry in Pennsylvania, founding Cephalon in 1987. Focused today on treatments for central nervous system disorders, pain and cancer, Cephalon has grown to more than 4,000 employees, with sales of over $2 billion annually.

Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania is proud to have funded Dr. Baldino in the earliest days of Cephalon. Dr. Baldino firmly believed in increasing the number of jobs in Pennsylvania, keeping Cephalon in Chester County throughout the company’s lifecycle. He inspired entrepreneurs throughout the state, and helped establish Pennsylvania’s national leadership in life sciences.

Our thoughts are with Dr. Baldino’s family during this difficult time.
