Going the Distance: T-Networks Merger to Provide Wider Spectrum of Products
Industry-leading optoelectronics component manufacturers T-Networks, Inc., in Upper Macungie Township and ASIP, Inc. of Somerset, New Jersey are merging into a new company, Apogee Photonics, that is combining operations at the T-Networks’ facility and will employ about 100 people.
The two companies approach a similar market from two different angles. T-Networks, a BFTP-portfolio company, focuses on components that transmit data at high speed over long distances. ASIP, on the other hand, specializes in high speed transmission over short distances.
The merged company is now ideally situated to meet growing customer demand. In fact, Apogee’s investors have committed $9.7 million to the transition, affirming that Apogee’s integrated products have high market potential.
Launched in July 2000 amidst exceptional market growth, T-Networks attracted $60 million of investment capital. BFTP invested $92,827 for database processes that helped T-Networks design and implement a customized enterprise-wide resource planning (ERP) system.
This effort helped T-Networks collect and analyze the data obtained during research and development of its optoelectronic products and enabled the company to transition into a production environment.
