Energy Commercialization Institute Issues Alternative Energy RFPs
The Energy Commercialization Institute (ECI), the region’s first university-based energy commercialization partnership, announces the availability of $760,000 in alternative energy and clean technology development grants.
The ECI, created by Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania (BFTP/SEP), Drexel University, University of Pennsylvania and Penn State University, develops energy-sector technology through translational research and sponsored research funding.
Two funding proposals are available through the ECI’s first issuance of Request for Proposals (RFPs):
The Energy Translational Research Fund (ETRF) provides grants of up to $150,000 directly to institutional researchers to support multi-institutional projects with a high degree of potential success.
The Energy Sponsored Research Agreement Fund (ESRA) provides up to $50,000 in matching funds for Sponsored Research Agreements to support institutional research for the advancement of a company’s existing technology.
Funding is available to those institutions affiliated with the ECI: Drexel University, Penn State University, Philadelphia University, Temple University, University of Pennsylvania, Villanova University and Widener University.
Pre-Applications for the ETRF grants are due February 28, 2010. Applications for matches to Sponsored Research Agreements are due March 31, 2010.
