Demo Day Introduces Latest AlphaLab Companies to Potential Investors
On Wednesday, October 14, 2009, Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southwestern PA (Innovation Works) will be holding its third Demo Day. Six AlphaLab companies will give short presentations on their technology and business propositions to a standing-room-only crowd of angel investors, venture capitalists, business advisors and other leaders.
“We are very excited about the potential of this new AlphaLab class,” says Jim Jen, director of AlphaLab. “They have made significant progress on developing their products and have hit the ground running to build their businesses. The high quality of this group demonstrates the continued momentum of the AlphaLab program.”
The experience is the culmination of the AlphaLab program, which funds and assists fledgling companies to commercialize and market their innovative software, Internet-related products, entertainment technology or mobile applications.
The entrepreneurs in AlphaLab have had five months of intense mentoring from advisors and experts at Innovation Works, the Ben Franklin Technology Partner of Southwestern Pennsylvania. This all prepares the AlphaLab companies for their Demo Day debut in front of the investors and influential contacts that could help propel their businesses after leaving. Following the previous two Demo Days, most of the companies received angel investment, interest from venture capitalists, launched their products and/or secured their first customers.
