BFTP/SEP Board Awards Dr. Brenda Gavin, Honors Two Departing Members
The Board of Directors for Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania (BFTP/SEP) awarded Dr. Brenda Gavin, Founding Partner of Quaker BioVentures, for 15 years of dedicated service at its December 16, 2009 meeting.

The Board also honored two departing members, Stephen J. Andriole, Ph.D., and Mark S. Schweiker, for their service and leadership.
Dr. Gavin was presented with a Resolution Plaque and a Wedgwood Philadelphia “Liberty Bowl” for serving on the board with distinction. She continues to provide outstanding support as the corporate secretary and a member of the Investment Committee.
“We are indebted to Dr. Gavin for her tireless support of the BFTP mission in Pennsylvania,” said Robert E. Keith Jr., chairman of BFTP/SEP. “We honor her extensive experience as a leading life sciences investor and her work on behalf of a strong and supportive community for entrepreneurs, benefitting the entire region.”
Beyond BFTP/SEP Board membership, Dr. Gavin has committed years of service to the BFTP mission in Pennsylvania. Prior to the start of her board tenure in 1994, Dr. Gavin served on the Emerging Investment Advisory Committee and on the Centers of Excellence Advisory Council of the Advanced Technology Center, which was the predecessor organization to BFTP/SEP, and on the Start Technology Advisory Board, a funded initiative of the Ben Franklin Technology Center, the former name of BFTP/SEP.
Dr. Gavin has committed years of service to the BFTP mission in Pennsylvania.
The Board honored two departing members, Stephen J. Andriole, Ph.D., Thomas G. Labrecque Professor, Department of Decision and Information Technologies, College of Commerce/Finance, Villanova University; and Mark S. Schweiker, President, PRWT Services, Inc.—Business Process Solutions, for their dedicated service and leadership.
The Board re-appointed BFTP/SEP Board members Michael Aronson, Thomas M. Balderston, Walter W. Buckley III, Alan J. Cohn, Kenneth G. Lawrence, Ami Miron, Anthony Santomero, Ph.D. and Bruce Toll.
