BFTP/CNP Invests over $500,000 in Five Companies
Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Central and Northern PA, part of a statewide network that promotes innovation, job opportunities and economic growth, recently made an investment of more than $500,000 in five Pennsylvania-based companies. The BFTP/CNP Board of Directors approved the funding at the December 15, 2009 meeting, which was held at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center.
Piezo Resonance Innovations, Inc., located in Bellefonte, will receive $100,000. Dr. Mulvihill and her team will continue developing and begin manufacturing custom piezoelectric components for a major medical equipment manufacturer. The company operates under an FDA-compliant quality system and is ISO-certified for medical device design and manufacture.
Envinity Inc., located in State College, one of the first companies in the state to focus strictly on a broad range of sustainable energy solutions, was awarded $37,500 to continue providing products and services related to green design, construction and renewable energy solutions.
PSI Medical Catheter Care, LLC, located in Erie, will receive $100,000 to advance their pre-market plan for disposable medical devices. Their products are engineered to disinfect and protect intravenous catheter tubing products, thereby improving the safety, care and maintenance of IV catheters used in the hospital setting.
Alcoil, located in York County, was awarded $250,000 under the Ben Franklin Alternative Energy Development Program to develop and provide its customers with smaller, lower-cost heat exchangers used in the heating, air conditioning and refrigeration industries.
Kennametal, located in Bedford, was awarded $25,000 to continue with a research project being conducted with the Pennsylvania State University.
